Five Free Ways to Support Small Businesses

Did you know that 99% of all businesses in the United States are small businesses? Most of our clients are small businesses and many of those are multi-generation family owned.

According to a report issued by the Small Business Administration (SBA), small businesses account for 44 percent of economic activity in the United States. Small businesses create two-thirds of new jobs and deliver 43.5 percent of the United States’ gross domestic product (GDP). Small businesses lead in innovation, producing 16 times more new patents per employee than large patenting firms do. Not only that, but small businesses reflect the diversity of the United States population in a way that the employee base of large corporations do not. Small business owners are our friends, family, and neighbors – they hire our children and donate to our schools and local charities.

There are many ways to support small businesses besides the obvious of purchasing their products, services, or gift cards. Here are a few ideas:

  1. Tell your friends and family about your favorite businesses
  2. Follow and engage with them on social media
  3. Share their products on social media
  4. Write a glowing review
  5. Sign up and share their newsletter

Making a small, concentrated effort to give back to small business, we can make a much larger impact on our greater community.
